Audiovisual collective Sataraxz
Sataraxz is a traveling electro-experimental kitchen and a work in progress. In its basic version it contains samplers, oscillators, filters, and effects. It is shaped by Eva Badanjak and Ivona Ivković, as well as by improvisation, love, and vegetables. Conceptually it originates from the ŽEN-pot, and its most recent recipe is being developed in Schrattenberg during a residency at Hotel Pupik in July and August 2025. This recipe also includes a video (Tanja Minarik) and a vocal and risograph print component (Tajana Josimović).
Eva Badanjak is a queer musician, performer, illustrator, and designer. She is the founder of the band ŽEN, the collective ŽŽŽ, and SATARAXZ. Since its beginnings, ŽEN has nurtured the development of DIY queer feminist culture in the Balkan region. She has maintained a long-term collaboration on projects of the “House of Extreme Music Theatre” with DB Indoš, Tanja Vrvilo, and Trobecove Krušne Peći. With the collective ŽŽŽ she leads the project “ŽENE MAŠINE”, which supports and empowers women’s creativity and the scene. As part of the Hotel Pupik residency, the SATARAXZ collective (Ivona Ivković, Tanja Minarik, Tajana Josimović, and Eva Badanjak) continues developing its work in the direction of experimental ambient electronic music. She also leads screen-printing and cyanotype workshops in collaboration with the Tam Tam festival, as well as technical equipment handling workshops with the makerspace RADIONA and VoxFeminae LOUD!HR.
Ivona Ivković is an engineer, translator, musician, and VJ. During her long career as the bassist of the band ŽEN, she developed an interest in synths, drum machines, and the connection between sound, image, and historical or contemporary themes. In 2018, together with Eva Badanjak, she launched the project Sataraxz, through which she turned toward electronic music. In 2021 she participated in the interdisciplinary project New Rijeka Narratives, where she worked on recording voice (Tajana Josimović) and effects for the published stories (https://soundcloud.com/prostor-plus), as well as on recordings of the sounds of the city of Rijeka for a performance within the same project. Together with producer Paul Grandjean, she created the music for a film that is currently in the final stage of production.
Tajana Josimović completed a Master’s degree in Comparative Literature and Spanish Language at the University of Zagreb. For the past 15 years she has been active in the field of independent culture and engaged art as a producer, coordinator, project manager, collaborator, and artist. In Zagreb she was active within the lesbian-feminist choir LeZbor, and in Rijeka in 2015 she participated in the formation of — and, together with Maja Bolić, the leadership of — the self-organized choir VINS Vladarice. She has attended numerous workshops on traditional singing with renowned experts, and collaborates with musicians from the independent scene (ŽEN, Sataraxz, Adam Semijalac, Ivona Eterović). In addition to singing, she is also involved in engaged cultural work. In the summer of 2025, as part of the Sataraxz collective, she took part in an artist residency at Hotel Pupik in Austria.
Tanja Minarik is an interdisciplinary new media artist with a bachelor’s degree in Film and Video and a master’s degree in New Media Art. She works at the intersection of art, science, and technology, specializing in video art, audiovisual performances, and immersive environments. Her practice is based on data and algorithmic processing, which she integrates into explorations of complex themes such as memory, identity, and the boundaries between life and non-life. She is active on the international art scene with numerous solo and group exhibitions and performances. She has participated in prestigious festivals such as Ars Electronica in Linz. Her work is characterized by an innovative use of technology in artistic expression, often in collaboration with other artists and scientists, exploring the boundaries between different disciplines and media.
