Lara Mitraković
Poet and cultural worker, active in the Croatian literary scene. She has published in literary magazines such as Tema, Poezija and Artikulacije, in anthologies such as Hrvatska mlada lirika 2, Rukopis 41 and Ekofeminizam: Između zelenih i ženskih studija, and on the portals Zarez, Kritična masa, Strane and Astronaut.ba. Her poems have been translated into Romanian, Slovenian, Slovak, Greek, Czech, French and English. For Women's Day 2021, she was published in the activist audio collection Bez zastoja i bez straha, produced by the Platform for Reproductive Justice and the book&zvook platform.
She has published three books: the poetry collection Brojanje pogrešaka (Matica hrvatska Karlovac, 2016), which won the Zdravko Pucak Award from the City of Karlovac, the anthology Netko podvikne, djeca odrastu (Fraktura, 2018) as part of the literary group 90+, and the collection of poems Dva puta za jug (Fraktura, 2019). She is currently finishing the manuscript of a poetry collection znam jednog dečka koji trči.
She has participated in literary residencies and festivals, including the Ulysses' Shelter program (2019), where she stayed on Mljet, in Ljubljana and Larissa. She has performed at the Timisoara International Literature Festival (2018), the Thessaloniki Book Fair (2019), the Slovenian Book Fair in Ljubljana (2019), the Zagreb World Literature Festival (2020), the Panthessalian Poetry Festival (2023) in several cities in Greece, and at events such as Feminism is for All in Zagreb (2020).
She currently works as a professional associate for theater, literature and visual culture at The Croatian Cultural Association. Before that, she was a program coordinator at the Kulturtreger Association – Klub Booksa and an assistant to the editor-in-chief at the publishing house Fraktura. She also worked as a marketing assistant at Egmont Publishing Croatia.
Together with Ivana Dražić, she edited the anthology Queer Balkan (Kulturtreger, 2024), and in 2023 she launched the poetry forum Poetomat at the Klub Booksa, focused on young authors, which she still leads. In the spring of 2025, she launched the Ukleti klub reading club together with Helena Smolčić. She also occasionally writes texts for the portals VoxFeminae, Bilten and Booksa.hr.
