Street freestyle dancer based in hip-hop and inspired by other other street styles, such as animation, breakdance, electro and krump. Movement creator, with one solo performance and a few group performances being held at festivals such as Raise the Bounce by HH4H i Under the Pressure by Refocus Media Labs. Performer in projects such as ARTissue: Lineage by Kristina Paunovski, freestyle dancer in hip hop dance events in gGreece and other countries such as Georgia and Turkey. Music producer, with hip-hop bounce productions.

Kofi Yiadom

Hip hop freestyle dancer. Co-founder of Soulart Dance Battle, The Art of Now exhibition battle and No End Collective. Movement performer at ARTissue: Lineage, Anasa Culture Center, The Afrogreeks, choreographer and performer for concerts by LEX, Negros Tour a.k.a. Blask Morris and Hate most. Educator at Hip Hop for Hope Association Athens and private educator in Athens and abroad. Judge at dance battles such as Eight Ball All Style Dance Battle, Skillz on the Floor, Street Skilz, Lords of the Battle.

ARTissue: Lineage

From 22 April until 10 May Greek dancers Kofi Yiadom and Panagiotis Demoirakos were guests at the Kamov Residence and during that time they held rehearsals for the performance ARTissue: Lineage with Rijeka choreographer Kristina Paunovski.

The performance is part of the ARTissue research process, in which Kristina Paunovski re-examines artistic practices in relation to movement and the body, as well as their history and roots.

The work process begins with an intimate question as a focal point – how can we express something that concerns us all? Can the personal become universal, or is it inherently universal by its very nature?

ARTissue: Lineage questions the connection between the personal/intimate and the communal/universal, exploring the boundaries between street-club dance styles and contemporary dance and how they mutually influence each other. The focus is on dance that intertwines various forms and styles. The time and place in which she lives encourages the author to question the boundaries of dance styles. Where do styles begin and end? Are we moulding them into new forms by abandoning their original character? How to inherit and preserve the past while at the same time there is a need for development and breaking into the otherness of the same?

The performance is a coproduction by Croatian Culture Centre Sušak (Rijeka, Croatia) and DAN.C.CE Unitiva (Athens, Greece) within Moving Balkans Dance Platform supported by the European Union

Croatian Cultural Centre in Sušak (HKD)

HKD is a public cultural institution that hosts numerous cultural, educational and entertainment programs throughout the year with dance, drama, music, film and multimedia activities, as well as visual arts in the Kortil Gallery. Kortil has been operating as an exhibition space since 1997, with exhibition program open to contemporary domestic and foreign artists, applied art, for exhibitions of artists who marked the art of the 20th century, but at the same time for young authors who are just entering the art scene.  

HKD hosts educational programs with dance, drama and music workshops and training for children and young people. It also implements community programs such as Kortil live and has its own volunteering program.

HKD is a member of the European dance networks Aerowaves and Pan-Adria and the music/organizational network MOST Music.
