Silvia Gribaudi is an Italian choreographer who also specialises in performing arts in general. Since 2004 she has focused her research on the social impact of bodies, having set at the centre of her choreographic language the comic element and the relationship between audience and performers.

Award-winner of the Premio Giovane Danza D’Autore with her piece A corpo libero (2009), finalist at the Premio UBU for best dance show and finalist at the Premio Rete Critica award with R.OSA (2017), winner of the Premio CollaborAction#4 2018 2019, finalist at the Premio Rete Critica 2019, winner of the Premio Danza&Danza 2019 for best Italian production with the piece Graces.

Silvia Gribaudi is associate artist at Le Gymnase CDCN (Roubaix – France) 2024-2026 and at Teatro Stabile di Torino- Teatro Nazionale (Italy) 2025-2027.

A corpo libero

During her residency, Silvia Gribaudi will film her award-winning work A corpo libero in virtual reality at various locations in Rijeka in collaboration with local agency Pilot Media and Slovenian director Enya Belak, organized by the Croatian Cultural Centre (HKD) and the Irish CoisCéim Dance Theatre.

A corpo libero is a work that mocks the female condition starting from the joyful fluidity of the body, exploring from a dramaturgical point of view a time of inadequacy, a time of omnipotence and a time of acceptance in a contamination of expressive techniques.

A dancing body that occupies full and empty spaces, that relates with its curves and its soft parts: imperfection that becomes normality, one’s physicality as the surface of an inner world. Silvia Gribaudi’s A corpo libero is a desecrating performance brought into urban spaces, the cry of revolt of a woman seeking freedom.

Croatian Cultural Centre in Sušak (HKD)

HKD is a public cultural institution that hosts numerous cultural, educational and entertainment programs throughout the year with dance, drama, music, film and multimedia activities, as well as visual arts in the Kortil Gallery. Kortil has been operating as an exhibition space since 1997, with exhibition program open to contemporary domestic and foreign artists, applied art, for exhibitions of artists who marked the art of the 20th century, but at the same time for young authors who are just entering the art scene.  

HKD hosts educational programs with dance, drama and music workshops and training for children and young people. It also implements community programs such as Kortil live and has its own volunteering program.

HKD is a member of the European dance networks Aerowaves and Pan-Adria and the music/organizational network MOST Music.
