In his works, Hasanović explores social phenomena in contemporary history of the South Slavic peoples by using the analysis of the relationship between individual and collective memory. In open quotations he leans on traditions of conceptual and post conceptual art of the '70s, as well as the specific features of the French New Wave cinematography. During his stay in Rijeka he produced several new works, of which we emphasize installation entitled Pjesma nas je održala - njojzi hvala!/The Song kept us going – we thank her! and the film entitled Zaboravljeni ljubavnik/The Forgotten Lover.
Pjesma nas je održala - njojzi hvala!/The Song kept us going – we thank her! is a sound collage assembled from the ending parts of revolutionary, partisan and brigadier songs from his private vinyl collection. The sound installation of "never-ending story ending" is adapted to live performance in cooperation with Doris Kovačić, prof. and Rijeka Chamber Choir Val.
Short film entitled Zaboravljeni ljubavnik/The Forgotten Lover is based on a premise that the spirit of Jovanka's lover has been trapped on Tito's yacht Galeb and is to this day haunting it. That imaginary spirit of Jovanka's lover thus becomes the narrative and a possible metaphor of the relationship between mythology and history that is constructed around "our" Galeb.
